Guest Artist Kerry Lee BIO
Kerry Lee was born
and raised in Atlanta, where she received her
early dance training from the Atlanta Chinese Dance Company, Atlanta Ballet,
and Rotaru International Ballet
School. She holds a
BS in Management Science and Engineering with a minor in Dance from Stanford University, where she trained under
Kristine Elliott, Diane Frank, and Robert Moses and performed works by George
Balanchine, Marius Petipa, Amy Seiwert, Janice Garrett, Alex Ketley, Maurya
Kerr, Sophie Monat, and Hai Yan Jackson. While at Stanford, she was also
the recipient of a Major Grant from Stanford’s Undergraduate Research Programs,
which enabled her to train intensively at the Martha Graham School of
Contemporary Dance (NY). As a professional Chinese dance and modern dance
artist, Kerry has performed in thirteen US
states and the British Virgin Islands with the
Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company (NJ), Dance China NY, H.T. Chen & Dancers (NY),
gloATL, and as a solo artist. She has also taught Chinese dance classes
and workshops at the Museum of Chinese in America (NY), Beijing Chinese School (NY),
Chen Dance Center (NY), Stanford
University, and Kudzu
Playhouse. Her awards for dance include the Louis Sudler Prize in the
Arts and a scholarship award at the Southeast Regional Ballet Association
(SERBA) Festival. Kerry was recently selected to perform "In
Mourning" as a part of the 2012 Modern Atlanta Dance Festival, Atlanta’s only
professionally adjudicated modern/contemporary dance event.
